Nico Hischier's Stick: Specs & Curve of the Swiss NHL Captain

Nico Hischier was the first Swiss player ever picked 1st overall in the NHL Draft — and today he's captain of the New Jersey Devils. Reason enough to take a closer look at his stick.

The Curve
Hischier plays a P29 — one of the most popular blade patterns in hockey, sometimes known as the Sakic or Crosby curve. It's a mid curve with an open face and a round toe: versatile enough for slap shots, snap shots and wrist shots, but just as comfortable for stickhandling and passing. It's a great all-around curve, especially if you're moving up from a flatter, closed-face pattern. The good news: you don't need a "close match" here — our SOYUZ ARCANE comes with the exact same P29 curve, so you can play what he plays. It also shares the same ultra-low kick point as the CCM Ribcor Trigger, so the feel on release is close too.

The Tape Job
One more detail worth noting: the tape on this stick is untouched — it's the original job exactly as Hischier wrapped it himself. No re-taping for the photos, no cleanup. What you see is what he actually plays with on the ice.
The Player
Born in 1999 in Brig, Hischier became the first Swiss player ever selected 1st overall in the 2017 NHL Draft. Since 2021 he's worn the captain's "C" for the New Jersey Devils — the youngest captain in franchise history at the time. Beyond being a top scorer, he's one of the league's most reliable two-way centers and a regular on the Swiss national team.
