Alexei Yashin's Stick: Warrior Dolomite DD with a Bauer Extension
Some pro stocks are just sticks. And then there are sticks like this one. Alexei Yashin's Warrior Dolomite DD from 2011 has three features you hardly ever see today. To us, it's almost a collector's item.
Specs
- Model: Warrior Dolomite DD (2011), name on the shaft
- Blade: inserted, custom with a square toe
- Curve: similar to the CCM P05
- Flex: not printed – feels very stiff, around 110
- Shoots: Right
- Extra: stick extension from Bauer

Feature 1: the blade is inserted
Today almost every stick is a one-piece: shaft and blade moulded together. On Yashin's Dolomite you can clearly see the seam at the joint – shaft and blade are two pieces, the blade is inserted. So not yet full composite in today's sense. Many pros played this way back then, because they could keep their favourite blade independent of the shaft.

Feature 2: a Bauer extension on a Warrior
At the knob there's a stick extension – from Bauer, on a Warrior shaft. Pros simply use what works, whatever brand is on it. How to cut down or extend your own stick properly is covered in our guide cutting or extending a hockey stick.

Feature 3: custom blade with a square toe
The blade is custom and has a square toe – similar in shape to the CCM P05. A square toe gives you more surface at the front of the blade: good for receiving passes, faceoffs and shots from the point. More on this family in the P02/P5 guide.

Flex: not printed
There is no flex printed on the shaft. In your hands it feels very stiff – we'd put it at around 110. That's a feeling, not a measurement, which is why we say so.
The player
Alexei Yashin, born on 5 November 1973 in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg), was drafted second overall by the Ottawa Senators in 1992. He captained Ottawa and the New York Islanders, won Olympic silver in 1998 and bronze in 2002 with Russia, and was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2020. After the NHL he played in Russia for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, SKA Saint Petersburg and CSKA Moscow, retiring in 2012. The Dolomite DD is a 2011 model – exactly which season this stick is from, we don't know.
Which SOYUZ blade matches?
We have a square toe like Yashin's: the SOYUZ P83. It's a Pro Custom blade and can be ordered from 3 sticks. In the 3D Curve Lab you can rotate it and compare it with other blades. For a stiff flex: depending on the model, SOYUZ goes up to flex 105.
Not sure which curve suits your game? Take our 2-minute stick finder and find your model.
